What Can We Learn From Caine’s Arcade?

What can we learn from Caine’s Arcade? Editor’s notice: In yesterday’s post about Caine’s Arcade I distributed several questions to ponder when viewing the video. Is one audience’s insightful responses Here. Great post, (to both Lisa Cooley & Lisa Nielsen). From a week long internet hiatus and find out this post It’s very motivating to come back.

I will need a stab at answering some of the questions. What topics did Caine learn? Caine has mastered measurement, and spatial reasoning (math). I know he learned some basic physics in designing his video games. I not only look at traditional 3R subjects but also look at the Seven Cs of 21st hundred years learning as defined by Bernie Trilling of the Oracle Foundation. Critical considering – Caine has shown capabilities in critical thinking as he exercised problems to make a claw machine and also to make the soccer game more difficult creativity and development.

Caine has learned this one! Collaboration – Perhaps, there was some collaboration shown, when Caine discussed his project with his Nirvan and dad. Computing technology – Caine discovered the billed power of this when Nirvan mustered a adobe flash mob. He worked out an algorithm to verify authentic passes also. Career learning – Hanging out along with his dad at the job and developing his own brand show that Caine is well on his way to mastering that one.

What is the role of adults? Nirvan helped Caine evaluate his games. Nirvan’s enthusiasm motivated Caine to describe his reasoning, displaying his understanding and mastery of his critical process. Just how much funding is essential for such an endeavor? Much like other natural, passion led learning projects, there was little or no cost involved. Caine do rely on his dad’s business for space. However, the expense of putting Caine into another summer program would definitely offset that cost. What is the role of technology? For Caine, he was able to learn the fundamentals of algorithms when designing his pass confirmation system.

Even although system used very basic technology resources, the process to develop would not have changed if he had used more advanced technology substantially. How do teachers bring the complete tales of the Caines in their class to the world? The Vimeo video will be a great place to start. What would have happened if there were texts? Caine would likely have lost interest, had tests been inserted in to the process. He would have achieved the level of creativeness never, if required to find textbook resources.

  1. Financial Plan
  2. Independent work in a responsible position with wide-ranging creative leeway
  3. 2″ x 3 1/2″ (2″ x 3.5″)
  4. Fast financing
  5. And mobilising change through professional leadership
  6. Allow to cool at room temperatures

How should parents and educators be empowering young people to use the energy of social media to help them go after their dreams? The power of social media in this situation was great. He was helped because of it achieve his dream, as he previously refined his arcade. However, if pushed to use public media to the refinement prior, Caine may have been discouraged from negative reaction to his incomplete designs.

The timing of the utilization of the media, must take into account the readiness of the child for the authentic assessment that comes from using these media. How do we fight against school policies that try to limit the ability for young people and their teachers to harness the power of social media?

We may use Caine’s story, and that of other successful children showing the charged power of social mass media to administrators and legislators. This may cause them to become go through the benefits of authentic assessment. However, I believe, their reasoning against it is firmly entrenched. I think that is a great example of the power of natural passion led learning. Caine likely learned more useful skills in completing this project that he’d in an entire year at school.
